I’ve only seen like 6 animes, but Shikaku has always been my favorite anime dad. He encouraged his son to base his perception of the world on his own experiences. He was always there to pull him back to reality, acknowledge his failures to grow rather than fixate and wallow in them, stood as a solid foundation for him to lean on yet called him on his bullshit to force him to become more emotionally intelligent than all of his comrades, and stood 10 toes down when it came to respecting women. GOAT father
