Oh, I kind of hate that logic, lol. I don’t think anyone is going to mistake a fantasy for romantasy. Romantasy is romance-centered with fantasy, while a fantasy can absolutely have a meaningful romance subplot. My view is that you should write the story the way you imagine it without getting too hung up on labels. Also, there’s nothing inherently bad about attracting romantasy readers 🤷🏼♀️

I have to be careful here with so many romantasy friends! I’m very aware that readers are aware, so I’m trying not to cross the genre streams and keep my relationship plots in their place! Is that influenced by romantasy somewhat? Probably!

No. Not one. I don’t think compromising the story I want to tell by making it more market friendly is what I need to do. Nothing against what is trending, it’s just not going to be the vehicle I need to deliver what I’ve created.
