The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested two suspected child traffickers and rescued a four-year-old girl who was allegedly abducted in Kuje, Abuja. The suspects, identified as Rose Daniel and Blessing John, were arrested on August 27, 2026, while allegedly attempting to flee with the child, identified as Ummi Mariam Abdullah. Confirming the development to newsmen, the FCT Police Command's spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, said the suspects were apprehended after a concerned member of the community who witnessed the incident alerted the police. She said operatives responded swiftly, rescued the girl and arrested the two suspects. She said preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects had previously been arrested in December 2025 and arraigned before a court in connection with a similar offence. They were subsequently convicted and released on bail after spending about five months in prison. Adeh mentioned that further investigation revealed that since their release, the suspects have abducted and trafficked four children to different parts of the country. The most recent case involved two children who were taken to a regular accomplice in PortHarcourt, identified only as Madam Ijeoma, who purchased the children for the sum of N1.5 million each. Adeh said the rescued four year old girl has since been reunited with her family, while the two suspects remain in Police custody as investigation continues. The suspects will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations. She urged parents and guardians to remain vigilant and intentional about the safety and whereabouts of their children and wards at all times. Members of the public are equally encouraged to promptly report suspicious persons, movements or activities to the nearest Police station or through the Command’s emergency lines: 08032003913, 08028940883, Complaint Response Unit 08107314192, PPRO FCT 07038979348
