REINVENTING MILESTONE: Turning the research into something I can hand across the table. For months, I have been studying a question that keeps appearing in very different places: workforce development, housing, technology, finance, education, community development, and now AI infrastructure. What happens when conditions change, but the assumptions institutions are operating under do not? And maybe the harder question: What happened during the interval? That question has become an important part of how I am developing Policy Engineering. I am learning not to begin with, Who is wrong? or even What should we fix? I begin with: What changed? What did we observe? What are we assuming? What evidence would we need to know? Who is still able to participate? Who absorbed the cost of adaptation? This Fall, I reached another reinvention milestone. I took months of research, professional experience, coursework, reading, writing, questioning, and more rewriting than I care to admit 😂 , and turned it into a short professional leave-behind: Policy Engineering Before Private Dependency Becomes Public Crisis It is not the whole research program. It is not the answer to everything. It is something much more important at this stage: A clear enough argument to begin the next professional conversation. Because reinvention is not always a dramatic before-and-after moment. Sometimes reinvention is realizing that the things you have spent years learning in different rooms actually belong at the same table. And then being prepared when somebody finally says: “Tell me more.” That is the milestone. #PolicyEngineering #WorkforceDevelopment #ArtificialIntelligence #PolicyResearch #SystemsThinking
