I make a bit of a joke that Greece wasn’t actually gay it was just so misogynistic that it circled in to being gay.

Cultures veil men too. Sandstorms and sun suck. It is not in the clothes it is in the intent. If you think the botoxed, liposuctioned, makeup, waxed, geltatin injections, filter women with heels and spanx aren’t being controlled by and for the same mechanism look deeper

And oh BTW, it has nothing to do with religion. People don't understand how culture affects religion

Interesting. My next question would be how were the Egyptians, Persian and American indigenous and other peoples treating their women? When did the others first veil their women? When did they devolve into patriarchy? What effect did that have on the country/people as a whole?

Everyone says agriculture was what caused the patriarchy to rise but I really think it was the creation/discovery of animal husbandry tbh

Hey! This is crazy to me since they were founded by the goddess of wisdom? The godDESS of WISDOM? Theoretically, without female gods, they wouldn’t exist so why on earth would female humans not be treated as equals??

Given what I know about Athenian misogyny, these does not surprise me at all. Although, I've never considered where the misogyny came from. Got some reading to do.

We must understand the feminine half of our history as well if we are going to say we understand history at all. its half of the people!

It will never not gobsmack me that one of the most misogynistic societies of the classical world was named after a critically important GODDESS whose spheres of wisdom and war were seen as masculine. Like... what? Not to mention that women in famously dystopian Sparta had it considerably better.

Most of what we learn in history class is totally irrelevant to women. Wars and politics were games played by men. Women were living real life.

When I was in Athens, it struck me that I probably saw more of the landmarks of Athens than ancient Athenian women ever would have been allowed to.

As an American, I started learning about Persian culture/ancient history about 2 years ago and um…..it appears that every step of the way, “the west” was the bad guy. Like deservedly so.
