Interesting. My next question would be how were the Egyptians, Persian and American indigenous and other peoples treating their women? When did the others first veil their women? When did they devolve into patriarchy? What effect did that have on the country/people as a whole?

It will never not gobsmack me that one of the most misogynistic societies of the classical world was named after a critically important GODDESS whose spheres of wisdom and war were seen as masculine. Like... what? Not to mention that women in famously dystopian Sparta had it considerably better.

As an American, I started learning about Persian culture/ancient history about 2 years ago and um…..it appears that every step of the way, “the west” was the bad guy. Like deservedly so.
