it's not enough. human life expectancy is around 70 years. the average person spends more than half of that working their ass off just to afford basic needs. the even less fortunate ones don't get to live at all. i guess the world could be beautiful if you choose to see it through rose colored glasses. but even then so what if it's beautiful if i'm not going to experience it in my lifetime?

I’m not religious but I think people’s need for there to be more is either from grief of a loss and hoping they’ll get to see them again. Or from a disappointment at how their life turned out, a hope for a do over. I’ve come to terms knowing that we will never know until we are dead, but some need it as a coping mechanism. Life is so hard, but we have to live with love and compassion or else what is the point.

Honestly the idea of being alive for eternity has no appeal to me. I’m not just talking about hell, I’m talking about heaven too. The nature of our lives and how they’re finite is what brings them beauty. I think it was Greek mythological gods that were said to be envious of the mortal.

It’s so hard to appreciate all the beauty that surrounds us if you give all the credit to a god. Everything here exists by chance. We’re made of stars and have created so much beauty. We live alongside so many intelligent, gorgeous creatures and among so many land formations that exist by chance. We are, as far as we know, the only habitat planet, and there was a 1 in a billion chance we’re here to enjoy it
