@chillin.with.my.h: 🌱 WAIT… DON’T PUT YOUR GARDEN TO BED YET! 🍂 Fall gardening starts before fall even arrives—and one of my favorite ways to get ahead is starting certain crops inside! Starting fall crops indoors gives them a head start while your summer garden is still producing. You can get strong, healthy seedlings established during the hottest part of summer instead of trying to convince tiny seeds to survive brutal heat, drying soil, pests, and unpredictable weather. 🙌 It also means you can have transplants ready to go as soon as your summer crops start coming out, giving you more time to harvest before the hard freezes arrive. 🌱 Great crops to start indoors for a fall garden: • Broccoli • Cauliflower • Cabbage • Kale • Brussels sprouts • Collards • Lettuce • Swiss chard • Celery 🌿 And some crops are perfectly happy being direct-sown outside: • Radishes • Carrots • Beets • Turnips • Rutabagas • Peas • Spinach • Arugula • Mustard greens • Cilantro • Dill The biggest mistake? Waiting until September to think about your fall garden.
