I’m not for gentle parenting but she’s wrong about gentle parenting and obviously doesn’t actually know what it is. Gentle parenting doesn’t mean permissive parenting or letting kids get away with things. It means having firm boundaries and consistent consequences without yelling, shaming, or intimidating them. You can acknowledge your child’s feelings while still saying no and holding the boundary. Gentle describes how you parent, not how lenient you are

I’m friendly with my kids. Have been since they were in diapers. Gentle parenting is not about never telling them no and letting them do whatever they want. It’s about not beating them and not screaming at them. It’s really not revolutionary.

I think she is confusing gentle parenting and permissive parenting. permissive parenting you give into your child's desires no matter what. Gentle parenting is telling your child no but not feeding into their energy. if they have a meltdown you remain calm and consistent until their energy matches yours. simple.

Parents are parents. That’s why they are called parents. This thing with parents and spouses as friends is so gentle.

I am told frequently I am sooo lucky my kids and dog behave so well…. It’s not luck, it is setting boundaries and expectations and having consequences! Mine also tell me thank you for how we parent and what they have and get to do 🥰

It always irked me when I hear parents calling their children, “Hey buddy…” They aren’t your buddy. They are your children, not your friend. Later, they’re gonna run you over.

A two year old tantrum is no reason to you. But very real to the child.it is you job to calm them down because their brain is not developed enough. Invalidating feelings is quite damaging
