I often say when I tell my story it feels like a recap from a movie or novel. There's no longer emotions and it feels like I watched it from an out of body experience. I can laugh at parts that make others gasp or cry because it doesn't feel real anymore.

I used to say I shouldn’t be complaining because other people have it worse. Then I realized I had it far beyond worse than anybody that I shared my story with.

I’ve had those discussions with my therapist. SA as a child, beaten by parents, bullied beyond belief. I’ve always thought others had it worse until I recounted what happened and he gasped and said it was never normal. I blamed myself, and still do for some of it, and yet I know I did nothing wrong.

When I was first diagnosed with PTSD and, later, CPTSD, I asked her not to diagnose me as such because other people have had it worse. I'm starting to wonder what gets worse than jumping at sounds, being on edge 24/7, the nightmares every sleep, the night sweats, the physical drain. I'm exhausted.
