This is my 21st year of teaching middle school. I started back last week, but my students / school starts on Tuesday next week. The air conditioner is out in my room too. Fingers crossed it will be fixed by tomorrow. With the heat you need to invest in flowy tops and pants. Also, comfy shoes like clarks. I love to wear closed toed flat sandals. I looked on Amazon and thought u could use some help with best styles. I have these https://a.co/d/0cssXYCC and they are pretty comfy. These type of sandals are the best https://a.co/d/00AKooac ( although a little pricey). They are so comfy and have found other similar ones that are cheaper, but I think I have every color and wear them year round in California. Last advice is know that the first week most students are quiet and well behaved. When they start to feel more comfortable with you, their behaviors will spike. Make sure you teach them your routines and behavior expectations in the beginning and revisit it consistently. Also make sure you set up clear boundarie. That is always a struggle with new teachers. You can be friendly and fair, but not their friends or they will walk all over you. Congrats on your first week, hope it only gets better. 😊
