The one thing I always did was a family tree right at the beginning. Mom’s ID, the children’s ID, ask who is/are the fathers, who are her parents, who are her supports etc. I ask for 2 reasons: I want proper identification just in case and I want to know extended family and friends just in case mom needs more help or the children have to leave for a short time. Family and supports are important so that children do not come into care

on April 5,2026, mountain home police officers responded to a motel room in arkansas for a routine welfare check after a report surfaced that two young children were left completely alone inside,when the officers arrived,a man named James Brancaster,who claimed to be the children's uncle, repeatedly blocked the doorway and aggressively and aggressively refused to let the police speak with or see the young girls,how the incident unfolded the calls, police received a tip that two minor girls were left unattended in a motel room, the confrontation, branchstrom met the officers at the door, acted hostile,and told them to go mind your own business,the refusal, even thought officer bently explained their legal obligation to ensure child safety, branchstrom continuously refused to cooperate or step aside,the escalation,due to his non- compliance and aggressive behavior,the situation quickly escalated into a physical struggle,the arrest,officers tackled and handcuffed branchstrom after he tried to resist them, charges and legal outcomes because he actively stopped law enforcement from ensuring the safety of the children ,

I would get mom to clean the place. I’d give her a couple of hours and then if it was good I would tell her I’d be coming back to check on her and the kids. I would also tell her the uncle needs to go elsewhere or I can’t agree to the living situation because he will block us from checking on the children.
