If your issue is grouping africans with different backgrounds, then you should then have an issue with the construct of black or the use of the word Sudan. To simply state that Europeans were classifying skull shapes based on achievements and history is dishonest, it was mostly based off of anatomical bias on physical features rather then civilization. They already were using existing European caliper measurements before classifying Africa, and groups were classified into what definitions that matched their physical criteria’s and measurements they already. Even pastoralist groups were classified as Caucasian in Africa, and south Asians, and west Asians were also under that category. Did they start correlated skull shapes into being more “civilized“ then other races, yes but their basis on what classified as a Caucasian was more skull shapes and physical features.
