@marianajourney0: "I want to ask a real question to anyone who has recovered from addiction: How did you do it, and what saved you #addictionisreal #addictionrecovery #addiction #addict #addictionstories
God saved me from the addiction and I felt it in my heart . I couldn’t keep hurting the people who loved me . Isolating was to much for me . And suicide was not the cure . God I love you and thank you for the courage to keep going . 3 yrs 3 months .

I was miserable. it didn't cover the pain anymore. I just looked in the mirror and said mama didn't raise no bitch and quit cold turkey. I thought I was gonna die but I did it. I'm stubborn. Still miserable and hating life... but at least I have more money... kinda and I don't withdrawal every 4 hours

These comments are all really helpful, but the one thing I don’t see is find out the why. Addiction becomes physical but the drive is mental and emotional. Work through the suppressed crap, face what hurts the absolute worst and feel it how ever it needs to be felt. Addiction is a want to avoid pain. If we can face these things in us and work through them to feel our feelings and actually heal our inner wounds, attachment wounds. I grew up with an addicted mother. Handle your heart and your mind because you can do all this stuff on the outside to have structure and take meds but all that does if the inner work isn’t being done is work for a bit but it will always circle back until you handle YOU ♥️

Let’s just say I have one close friend in a few few coworker buddies, I rarely go out. I don’t do anything anymore. I stay home. I’ve worked on my mental health and I’ve done a lot of growing. You have to change your entire circle. You can no longer be friends with anybody who does whatever you used to do before it’s a lonely life sometimes but I’m drama free stress-free I can sleep. I’m actually eating healthy and being healthy. It wasn’t an easy road though it was a long hard road.

Heroin/opiate/ pill addict for ten+ years. For one. Every thing is full of fentanyl now. Can’t even find real opiates or H anymore. I got addicted to fentanyl without even knowing it. Finally kicked that. And it was just so difficult get real pain pills. I got tired of having to go to the ends of the earth to get them every other day. Not long after I stopped the opiates. My doctor that I had been going to for years dropped me. I was getting 90 2mg kilonopins. 90 somas and 90 Adderal. I got off the opiates with the kilonopins and muscle relaxers. Then when that got dropped. I just was tired of trying to keep it going. I had already lost everything few years before that. Lost my wife and son. Lost my house I bought. Lost both trucks. Lost my boats. Welding machines. Side by side. Four wheelers. Lost everything. I’m 2 years sober now. And I’ve got my son back. I just got tired of it man. Went to detox and rehab. And just wanted more out of life. Including being a good father
