I tapped a guy one day at a stop light. my fault. told him I'd follow him to a parking lot to get out of traffic. we got out, assessed any damages (none). Apologized and offered my info (he refused it). We chatted a bit, had a couple laughs, shook hands and went on our way. That's how you handle it.

Couple of years ago someone rear ended the back of my dadโs 86โ dodge ram with a Prius they bought brand new off the lot four hours previous. The trailer hitch housing (not the ball or a tail hitch, I cracked my shin on it ONCE and never left in in again - but the meal square it slides into) went through his radiator and totaled his car. The only mark on the dodge was scratches where they had to pry the Prius off. Truck would still run like a demon if it hadnโt been sitting a few years (broke a brake line and didnโt have the money or elbow grease to brake loose the parts)
