Same. No family came for my but graduation. 3 older brothers. Mom and dad. Everyone had excuses. Nobody could “make the flight”. 8 years later and I never forget how I felt that day. Started doing stuff for me and me only after that. Promised myself to my now 3 year old daughter that I’ll show up to every event

At my College Graduation, I heard the cheers of other graduates families. When I walked across the stage you could hear a pin drop. No one there to cheer for me but my 7 year old son. He said he tried to clap as loud as he could but his hands were too small. My Baby passed away two years ago. At his funeral, I tried to clap as loud as I could so he could hear me in heaven and know I am his biggest cheerleader.

There needs to be an app like “Be my eyes” but “Be my family” where people can register saying they have no family and others can volunteer to show up for them. I would do it in a heartbeat.

I wanna start a program for our soldiers who dont have family to where at every graduation one of us moms plays their mom for this very important day! Or have the families to adopt a soldier at graduation,promotions,award ceremonies,getting pinned ect! My dad is a retired Command Sargent Major & Vietnam Vet & at Fort Stewart my mom started a support group for the wives of husbands who are deployed & it helped so many people!

I think I read about where volunteers (in the U.S.) can attend graduations and stand by to "tap" graduates who are left standing. I need to look into that.
