It’s not entirely true.. Notts Forest didn’t provide the kits. There was players from Nottingham Forest who moved to London. They already had red shirts and the clue decided to kit the rest of the team out with red shirts. There was not generosity involved.. no care package.

Actually the white sleeves were a result of the players wearing white shirts in training. One side in a practice game donned red bibs and Herbert Chapman liked the look of red shirts with white sleeves. That’s how it came about!
