Which posture are you - A, B, or C? A is the one that tricks a lot of people. Clavicles pulled down. Shoulder blades squeezed together. Chest looking “open.” Many people were actually taught that this is good posture. But when you’re constantly forcing the shoulder blades together, the rhomboids and surrounding muscles are working unnecessarily, the sides of the rib cage can feel compressed, and you’ve simply created another compensation. B is easier to recognize. Rounded upper back, shoulders elevated or rolled forward, chest collapsing. This kyphotic pattern affects the position of your neck and head and creates completely different tension through the upper body. And then we have C. The clavicles are supported rather than forced down. The shoulder blades rest naturally on the rib cage instead of being squeezed together.
