chronostasis. the input you get from your eyes actually stops when you move them so its not one big dizzy blur. to correct this your brain gaslights you into thinking you always saw during that gap, creating that weird fake extra second. in short, your brain gaslights you about what you are seeing.

Apparently it’s cause your brain prosesses vision with a delay but your brain time shifts stuff in the future by interpolating what probably happened in the past so you see a false “now”. Real mind fuckery going on there

Okay no. I've genuinely started questioning everything. I was thinking about this today. Like literally hours ago. I'd look at a time, and the first second I looked at it, it slowed down and lasted longer than a normal second should. I haven't thought about that or noticed it in- a good few months maybe? And now for the first time ever I see a tiktok about the very same thing. What are the chances right??

Its a known bug with analog clocks causing FPS drops. It's something about all the moving parts, try swapping for digital.
