She lost the weight… but nobody adjusted her blood pressure medication. Then she ended up with a broken shoulder. This is why GLP-1 management should be about more than watching the scale. One of my patients started GLP-1 therapy while also being treated for high blood pressure. She lost weight. Her blood pressure improved. But her blood pressure medications weren't reassessed as her numbers changed—and she wasn't routinely monitoring her BP at home. Then one night, she got up to use the bathroom. Her blood pressure dropped too low when she stood up. She fainted, fell into the bathtub, and broke her shoulder. That's why I'm telling this story. GLP-1 medications can be incredibly helpful for appropriate patients. And as weight comes down and cardiometabolic health improves, blood pressure can improve too. That's a GOOD thing. But if you're also taking blood pressure medication, those changes may mean your treatment needs to be reassessed. Your clinician may need to adjust your medication. But we can't respond to numbers we aren't monitoring. So if you're taking a GLP-1 and you also have hypertension: ❤️ Monitor your blood pressure. ❤️ Keep a log. ❤️ Pay attention to dizziness or lightheadedness, especially when standing. ❤️ Share your readings with your healthcare provider. ❤️ And don't adjust or stop your BP medications on your own. Weight loss is the goal. Passing out in the bathroom is NOT. GLP-1 management isn't just about losing pounds. It's about losing weight SAFELY. 📱 If you're considering a GLP-1—or already taking one—and want closer guidance with your weight and blood pressure management, call/text 512-652-8384 to see how I may be able to help. #GLP1 #WeightLoss #HighBloodPressure #Hypertension #BloodPressureMedication
