All councils do this. They have done for years. If you leave before the bailiffs come - even after filling out all their forms etc, they consider it as you've made yourself intentionally homeless because you didn't *have to* leave yet.

It’s okay, our council told us to stop paying rent when we had an issue with no running water (and loads of other issues, was a flat) when I said so when we’re all made homeless because we get kicked out are you liable to them house us? Oh no your not are you because technically we’ve made ourselves homeless right? Disgusting advice to give people

I told several companies once a couple years back that I couldn’t afford to pay the bill that month and they both said ‘wait until it defaults and we send you a final notice then we can arrange a payment plan’ its effected my credit score negatively to this day.

Barnet told me to wait the 2 months and when I waited and was kicked out they said they can’t help me???!!!!! I said whyyyyyyyyyy waste my time and make me stay there…….. coz I will be making myself unintentionally homeless 🤷🏽♂️

If you don’t wait for the bailiff you hae made yourself intentionally homeless I should know it happened to me was banned off the housing for 12 months that’s not the case now but trust me don’t do that becuase the council won’t help

Enfield council are terrible I was with the homeless team for over a year they didn’t help me at all they just ignored and ignored me. When I had enough they told me what do you want us to do. We can house you today but it’s about 6 hours away from Enfield where I was born and lived all my life and all my family and job are there. Was told I need to stop breastfeeding my baby and put him in a private nursery. I said I will have no money at all if I pay for private nursery she said I know I have done it myself. Was then told well there’s nothing we can do the waiting list is 107 years. They never helped me at all !

Council told me to stay despite having knowledge prior to it. My landlord evicted me and then threw my stuff away when I came to collect it
