Have you done a video on catamenial or hormonal seizures? If not, could you make one? A lot of people, including doctors, are not aware of them.

Prior to my accurate diagnosis, I was having upwards of 30 seizures a month—this was going on for about 15 years. Once I was being appropriately treated, that number went down to 3 or 4 a month. I’ve tried like 6 different med combinations over the last 10 years or so…and this is the best that could be found so far. And I am SO grateful.

Does changing medication’s always require a very slow titration down as you titrate up on the alternative? My husband‘s change from the indescribably miserable KEPPRA to what we hope is an improvement, a drug called LACOSAMIDE it’s going to take a total of eight weeks. I’m wondering if that’s typical.

Yeah that’s why I stay in mine. Oxcarbenzepene and Lacosomide if I m spelling any of this correctly. They have stopped the intensity and I can recover quicker. Lessened auras but no doesn’t stop them. The side effects of the meds can be disabling but my doctor doesn’t want me off them.

I have a question that is out of this subject, maybe you can help me. I have to travel out of the country. Do you have any advice? Do seizures increase during when you are in the airplane?

I’m still having seizure not only despite medications but my RNS surgery I got in November 2019 but it’s a lot lower. Just one a month and mostly auras to episodes of me talking jiberish that last pretty short. They’re low enough though where I have some independence and where an epilepsy bracelet showing I have epilepsy and includes my medications including emergency medication and on the back emergency contacts and to call 911.

I have JME and even though I am on two anti-seizure medications I still jerk, twitch or have absence seizures now and then. The medication has helped lessened them, but it hasn’t eliminated them and from what I heard it won’t totally eliminate them. With medications it’s a chemistry game to see which medications work for you. Before taking medications I used to drop things, fall unexpectedly, jerk, twitch, and stare. I still have these but not as often. I think I have had one tonic clonic seizure in my entire life and I have also had hallucinated which was rare. For me, I don’t think I would have surgery but that is my choice.
