To those asking why Nigerians don't speak in this manner, with this accent right now I'll tell you. This video was shot in the late 1960s, Nigeria had just gotten independence and the effects of colonialism were still strongly visible, it was almost like they never left then, but as years go by we found ourselves, we became truly free to speak and talk like ourselves and not like "our masters". India, Myanmar, Iraq, Tanzania, Pakistan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, are just some of the former British colonies that dropped English as their official language years after Independence
