@the_salty_np: 3 for 3 this week 👀 just my observations… All 3 of my postpartum clients were told their iron was “normal” at their doctor’s office… but because they were experiencing fatigue, we looked a little deeper and checked ferritin. All 3 had ferritin in the teens (when we want it over 30). Sometimes the lab work you need isn’t necessarily abnormal, it’s just not the full picture. If you’re dealing with fatigue and want a second set of eyes on your labs (or want to figure out what might have been missed), you can work with me through the link in my bio 🤍 #postpartumhealth #rootcause #ferritin #womenshealth #labwork

Over 30? It should be over 70! I finally got mine up after multiple infusions. Night and day!

I didn’t have any bloodwork done after I had my son. I feel like that should be something that’s required. I was so weak, tired, and lost a ton a weight very quickly.

My ferritin was 9 at 26 weeks but normal hemoglobin so no one cares. At 31 weeks now and I’m sooo tired.

This time last years ferritin was at a 4. I got weekly iron infusions for 6 weeks. I felt so good, but my PCP wanted to get to the root cause of why my body wasn’t absorbing iron. Turns out I had SIBO, treated that. And my levels as of recent were in the 80s 🤘🏼

Any iron panel is going to include a ferritin level. Nobody serious is just checking just a serum iron.

so who is following the clancy case?? when I heard she had a lot of blood loss with child birth... and reported fatigue, insomnia, depression, anxiety, heart palpitations...not saying that's all that was going on, but can you imagine if it started with something as simple as ferritin

This makes me so beyond angry. It was charted that I lost an insane amount of blood with my first born, left the hospital with my hemoglobin at 9, and not one person suggested even monitoring my iron. I suffered from horrible insomnia, anxiety, depression for almost a year. It wasn’t until 9 years later when I started exhibiting the same symptoms, and finally had a dr check my ferritin, that I realized that most of my issues were iron deficiency. I’m pregnant again and my obgyn just brushed the iron panel under the rung because “your hemoglobin is fine” 😤😤😤

How can we get a movement to check post partum women ferritin levels (and after miscarriage too)? I believe life would have been so much easier without single digit ferritin after and during pregnancies. They didn't even check my ferritin after hemorrhage level bloodloss was noted.

Nobody ever checked my ferritin. I had PPD along with a bunch of mental health issues, and I finally got a great gyno who checked my ferritin.. it was 2. TWO.
