It’s very simple, just say “Thank you so much for the offer. Is this negotiable?” 🧑🏽‍💻You’re going to be locked into this salary for years, so before you accept you need to make sure you feel really good about the job offer, if not you will grow bitter and resentful, and you will only have yourself to blame for accepting an offer that was too low to begin with. If you’re scared to negotiate- don’t be. ▪️Corporations are in the business of making money. ▪️Corporations want to pay you as little as possible. ▪️Corporations expect you to negotiate. 🧐Here are the 3 most common questions I get asked when I teach people how to negotiate their job offer 1️⃣ What if they lie? -Why would they lie? They just interviewed 50 people, and they decided that you are the person for the job. Why wouldn’t they hear you out and see if they can give you what you want? Also, if what you want is an extra $5k on salary or 10 more days PTO they will do it if they can because they want to fill the position and move on in the same way you want to get a job and stop your job search. 2️⃣ What if they say it’s not negotiable? If they say it’s not negotiable, then you know you got their best offer and you need to then decide if you can live with that offer. If they won’t or can’t negotiate the ball is now in your court. Take 24 hours to think about it. 3️⃣ If I try to negotiate or if I ask for more money won’t they just take my offer away? They will only take the offer away if you lie, misrepresent yourself or negotiate unprofessionally.
