@the_josemonkey: It's back to school time! That means it's time for a reminder about how to be safe when posting photos of your kids on the first day of school. #PSA #backtoschool
Great job, and you're the perfect person to spread this message.

In 1983 my grandmother gave me a backpack with my name on it for the 1st grade. My dad said to cover it up so a stranger couldn't call me by my name to convince me they knew me. My mom sewed a patch over it. Why are we still doing this 40 years later?

nice advice! my grandmother puts my name on the inside of my backpack so its not visible to strangers.

not an "online" safety tip but be wary of leaving a school pickup placard in you car window outside of the pickup line. Especially if it has your child's name or school name.

When I took back to school pics of my grandkids last year, I made sure the only thing visible was the front door of my house. No house number and nothing in the background. I also didn’t share them on social media, but because of your videos I was still super careful.

I'm not a parent but I am a cool aunt and I can't imagine posting photos or videos of my kids online. At this point we know enough to know how dangerous this is

Here in Portugal we don't have that tradition. Normally we took a class photo at the end of the year at school. Or when parents do this, they usually take it at school. Here everyone drops the kids at school. We don't have school buses. If a parent can't walk or drive the kid to school. Just go by metro, or normal bus.

Really appreciate you calling out these great tips on your Channels to help keep our Kiddos safer. I hope that all parents will take the time to consider all of these and even think about their own situations and create an even larger tip list 😎👍

Remember people. Strangers are strange by definition. Trust nobody

Mr.Matt :
Also, when checking your privacy settings, don’t just look at who can SEE your posts. Check your sharing/resharing settings too. Different apps handle this differently, and even a well-intentioned relative can sometimes spread a photo farther than you intended. Facebook has gotten better about respecting the original audience, but not every platform works the same way.
