My mom has 14 aunts that are nuns in Spain, 14! They called her to ask if this was real because it made it to the convent group chat. The Spanish nuns are aware and upset about this 😂

I JUST found this out last week while doing my mandated reporter training, for missouri at least, priests were still required as mandated reporters to report abuse up until 2008 where they added a clause to the law for "protected conversations" absolutely insane to me that someone can confess to abusing a child and they arent legally required to report it

according to Canon Law not even the Pope can break / compel other clergy to break the seal of confession. It’s inviolable. 🤷🏻♂️

The prosecutor did that, because if the priest were a witness, he couldn’t be there with her in court. It’s just cruelty at this point.

If they put him on the witness list, he also would not be able to sit behind her during court. It was an especially cruel attempt to rid her of support.

For instance Confession if a man confesses to a Priest that he has raped and murdered 10 women all that Priest can do is compel that man to turn himself in. Even if that man intends to commit ANOTHER MURDER that Priest CANNOT report that man he cannot break the sacrament of confession.
