@drsaad08: 🔴Osteomalacia in sheep/goats ♦️Etiology: Deficiency of phosphorus, calcium, or vitamin D, especially in adult animals. Poor-quality feed and prolonged feeding of phosphorus-deficient diets. Imbalanced Ca:P ratio. ♦️Signs: Weakness, stiffness and lameness Difficulty walking; reluctance to stand Softening/deformation of bones, fractures Poor growth and reduced productivity Sometimes pica (licking/eating abnormal materials) ♦️Treatment: Correct the diet with calcium and phosphorus supplements. Give vitamin D when deficient. Provide good-quality forage and a balanced mineral mixture. Treat fractures/support affected animals as necessary.
