@oliviamariehoney: Welcome to the flip side of post partum 🫠 Really- everything is going to be okay- but let’s talk about this side of things that no one ever talks about 🤍#postpartum #ppd #youreagoodmom
This is hard to say but the quicker you literally mourn your old life and just fully radically accept this new life the quicker you will feel better. The radically accepting it is the key. Any internal, psychological work you could ever do will lead you to acceptance. 🙏🏼🙏🏼

i just feel like a lot of women don't take into account the reality of having a baby. you have to go in knowing everything will change and if you do that then I think you have an easier time transitioning. it is the most radical change a woman/marriage will ever go through but we must be realistic.

I think everyone feels this way postpartum and many are just too scared to share it. I don't think it's even always PPA or PPD, it's just a huge overnight life adjustment that takes time to get used to. Plus sleep deprivation. It took me at least 9 months to start feeling like I'd adjusted.

My ob gave me an Rx like 2 months before my due date. She said I’d say anytime you are worried, anxious, scared, depressed, hopeless, ANYTHING at all. Take one of these and call to let me know you started so we can set up an appointment to get back to baseline 🥲. I never needed it but just knowing there was a plan just in case was so comforting to me. I wish more providers would do this.

I had such dark days with my son when he was a newborn. I didn’t think I was going to make it. He’s now 3.5 and will be an only child because of how scary those dark days were. But I PROMISE IT GETS BETTER 😭 I still miss my old life sometimes but he’s our little best friend and don’t know what we did without him!

Make sure you are getting the baby used to noise…TV, music, etc. They sleep much better and become excellent sleepers. I’m sure baby wearing is great but you may need some you time without the baby attached. Try to make everything as back to normal as possible.

Good for you for speaking about this. I had my first baby almost 8 years ago and no one ever told me these thoughts and feelings were normal and common. I felt so incredibly alone. This lasted about two-ish months for me and then I came out

Well, I am not a mother, but I am a father of five and I dealt with my wife who has postpartum issues. Everything you’re feeling is normal girl with feelings sadness it’s just your body adjusting to the hormonal change and your feelings are valid. Just know you did make the right decision. You’ll look back on this time And be so happy you did it and enjoy that baby. Will give you well outweigh the negative you’re feeling. But keep talking about it. Keep sharing your story. There are lots of women on here that I’m sure has been where you are and just know that it is normal to feel that way, don’t beat yourself up over it. As far as your husband and you, you guys will be OK. You will get time for each other in a few months when the baby is more independent. Reach your family and friends for health. It’s OK to ask for a break and have someone come watch the baby for an hour or two while you clear your head there’s nothing wrong with that. Good luck to you and you’ll do just fine.

I swear the first 3 months is a very dark hole where you feel like you’re rotting from the inside out lol. Funny, but not. Breastfeeding/pumping drained me and I HAD to stop. Then, the guilt of that added to it. But eventually it does get better. I struggled bad with the newborn phase with both of my kids. I still struggle to this day with fears and what-ifs. I think that’ll never go away because we’re good moms. Zoloft has been a LIFE SAVER for me though… 6 years after becoming a mom I realized that 😂 I wish I would have done it sooner. But more importantly friends that can relate, that will be open and honest about these stages, will be your saving grace. Message me if you need to vent! Im here 🥰

Please seek information about post-partum OCD! That “what if?” loop is a hallmark of OCD. As are the ego-dystonic thoughts (thoughts that don’t align with how you really feel or think). Thank you for sharing your story & being vulnerable. These things are NOT talked about enough. I hope you have lots of support, and access to everything you need to be okay.

I had my first son at 23 and this was my exact post partum experience. I discussed having my mom adopt him because I didn’t think I wanted to do it anymore. I thought life was over. He’s now 22 years old and I am so happy I got thru that time because he is the absolute best thing to ever happen to me. You need lots of breaks, a good support system and this will pass. Keep talking about it, don’t hold anything in. You will get thru this and that little man will be your best friend for life ❤️

The way you comfort your baby even when you feel so much discomfort within yourself really says a lot. Being a new mom is so fucking hard. Is there anyone that can help you just to have a couple hours to yourself? As a mom, these things are handled when they come up. It’s easier said than done. Sending you so much love.

You’re not the only one. I could have made this video myself. I’m 6 months postpartum now and on medication and still struggle. Things have gotten better in some ways but a different struggle in others. I think as time goes on and you learn your baby more, things become a little less hard. You start to trust yourself more. It’s important to take time for yourself. Hand off to dad or family that you trust. Another thing I had to do at 3 weeks post partum was mute my moms groups! There’s so much information and opinions and “this is what in doing” and comparison. It’s overwhelming when you’re trying to just figure out your new life. Everyone says this but reminding myself that I am a good mom and I am doing the best I can has also really helped. I’m sending you so much love.

You’re genuinely so brave and awesome for sharing your experience. You’re going to help a lot of people. And you will also see that so many women experience this, which is both frightening and comforting. You’re going to get through this.

I didn’t realize how severe my ppa was with my first until 2 years later. It was the fear of something happening to her. You’ve made me realize I probably have ppa with my second too, she’s 3 months old now. I constantly have thoughts of have I ruined my toddler’s life, our lives?

Been there!! 100% normal. My husband and I had those conversations. It is so wild to loving your child but then also feeling so guilty when anyone said “congratulations”. Get the book “Good Moms Have Scary Thoughts” by Karen Kleiman. You are in the THICK of it. It will get better, even when it is hard it is still better than those early days. I’m 13 months postpartum. DM me if you want. You got this!!

I’m 2 years “postpartum” and I struggled immensely with thoughts exactly like this..”what have I done?” I remember telling my best friend that when my son was born, I died. It felt like I was plopped into this foreign new life where I lived in isolation. I commend you for sharing - I was so afraid to and nobody had any idea I was struggling. I can assure you it does get better. I can assure you that you are a wonderful mom - only good moms question if they’re good enough. You will get through it. You will find the joy in it and you’ll find your confidence and it will get better. I would love to chat more if you need anyone to reach out to…and I mean that!

I’m 10 months PP all the things you are saying I experienced. The first three months were so hard then by 4-6 I started getting the hang of motherhood and then now at 10 months I promise you it’ll get better and you’re not alone. Being a mom and having a baby is the hardest thing I’ve ever done and you’re not alone I felt alone too and it was so hard to say my thoughts out loud but thank god I feel better and I do get my time even tho sometimes it’s still a lot but watching my daughter grow and her personality blossom has been the best. If you ever need someone to talk to you can message me.
