They didn’t go, he didn’t ruin the surprise or anything just went radio silent for a bit and then talked to the brother the next day. The brother agreed it was rude. Later when they went to a dinner without the organiser, she just happened to turn up to the same bar with some random guys. The OP now thinks the brother is distancing himself from the organiser.

My identical twin and I are both adults. If my friends threw a surprise party and treated my twin as a mere guest and not equally honored, I would be p*ssed off! She would feel the same way if reversed. Unless you’re a twin, it’s hard to accurately describe the close relationship twins have. We will ALWAYS be a package deal.

Unpopular opinion: YTAH. Everyone deserves their own birthday celebration. I’m not a twin but my younger brother’s birthday is 5 days before mine. There are also several more August birthdays in the family. They do a group August birthday party every year. I live 1,000 miles away now. My mom asked if I wanted to fly out to attend the party this year. I said no. I’m 36. By now she should know that I DO NOT share my birthday. Yes, it’s OP’s birthday too but I didn’t go to my friend’s birthday party on my birthday last year and insist that they make it my party too. That would be silly and entitled.
