Most people don’t know this, especially because there’s no markers in the area, but there’s a secret trail over the mountains that will get you from Whiterun to Ivarstead SPEEDY QUICK. What you’re going to do is make your way up the road by White River Watch and head towards the Whiterun Stormcloak Camp. From there. Right as you’re entering the cove that the camp sits in, there will be a small stack of rocks off to your left. Over there will be a small trail. Follow it, and it will take you right over the mountain and spit you out at a ford on the Treva River next to a troll’s cave with a dead elk in it. This location is immediately downstream and a very brief walk from Ivarstead. Just head up the hill, and you’re in Ivarstead!

Wait a damn minute he suggests you go south around it? I always thought he was saying go north around it and would get consistently lost for the first couple play throughs. I’d always end up halfway between windhelm and riften.

I know why we do this. Less distractions. If I follow a road for a certain amount of time... Well... Where did the road go? Why am I in a cave now? Too many markers every where. Mountain simple. Mountain smart.

its because when you try to take your time on roads and spend 15 minutes getting to your destination and fighting like 10 groups of enemiea the fucking game crashes and there is no save because no fast travel so people gave up the risk and started making a bline for objectives. shit game engine

Auch wenn es manchmal länger dauert ab einem gewissen Punkt ist es irgend wann zu spät um umzudrehen und man zieht es solange durch bis man es geschafft hat und am Ende merkt das man gar nicht dahin musste und falsch gelandet ist. 10/10
