we recently had a young girl come apply at the bar I work at, on the application where it says 'how did you hear about this position" she wrote "I manifested it". everyone has weird moments, so we still chose to interview her, and during the interview she asked about the dress code, and when she found out that jeans were required, she actually said "damn it, that means I'll probably have to wear underwear". despite all those things, we were going to give her a chance... until she said "I'll work here, but if I don't show up one day, you'll know I found a good strip club". 🙃

I can’t fathom the mindset you have to come to work & start eating at the beginning of your shift “ima need a minute”. I’ve seen it myself. Worked at a coffee shop. That behavior is not uncommon

I was a Lt for federal prisons, had an officer accept an overtime shit but needed to go get food in between shifts, I let him, he legit robbed the gas station IN UNIFORM and was shot by cops after a short chase. This was Mississippi. Needless to say I had to mandate someone else for the shift

I trained a girl once, years ago, that didn’t want to do/ learn anything and when I talked to her about how this is part of your job, she told me I was just jealous cause she was young and pretty! In the end she left crying and quit! 😂😂😂

The fucked up part is if you ARE a good worker and you DO show up for shifts it doesn’t buy you any good grace that just normal while all these other people are struggling to be on time and call out all the time or are just lazy sure they get spoken to but they still have a job usually and that’s CRAZY to me. I’m currently waiting to pick up a Saturday shift they gave to a girl that still hasn’t shown up ONCE and she’s STILL on the schedule

Oh so it’s a global development… that’s equal parts reassuring and horrifying. I‘m the senior senior at my university student side job (been there longer than everyone aside from ONE of two co-bosses and out-stayed three other co-bosses) so I‘m kinda… I wouldn’t say I have full-time employee privileges/benefits but in some aspects I do and so I hear a lot about the recruiting process, I am often there when new people have their trial days or start training etc.. and it’s been steadily going downhill. Today I had to explain why the opening shift has to charge up the electric car that’s left outside on the parking lot so we don’t have less cars than we have delivery drivers scheduled to come into work (we have 3 electric cars but only 2 chargers so we have to swap cars around in the morning when there’s time and the closing shift employees aren’t there yet). And it’s not just new employees, people who have been working here for YEARS forget or don’t care. Then someone (probably the same person) stacked the BIG conical ikea plastic boxes into the SMALL ikea plastic boxes and got them stuck there. WHY WOULD YOU EVEN DO THAT??? Then we have ppl who take whichever order they like best with ZERO regards to tactical routing or time pressure (older orders are left to rot just so they don’t have to climb stairs). Like, imagine the US as our delivery area, we‘re based in Texas, there are orders from Seattle, LA, New York City and Boston and they grab the one from LA and the one from New York City because those customers have elevators and now another colleague is driving the EXACT SAME nonsensical route because Seattle and Boston still need to get delivered obviously. Then we have ppl who see an all-but-literal MOUNTAIN of dirty dishes to be pre-washed and then turn around and go take a smoke break. Then we have people who only work one shift who use the closest parking lot instead of parking their car at the charger (like instructed) and the person working the double shift plus occasional overtime has to do more overtime to park their car at the charger because the closing shift employee couldn’t be bothered to follow instructions. And that’s just FROM THE TOP OF MY HEAD

im a cooking equipment repair man. And in all sorts of restaurants everyday. You can be dealing with a high end Chef one minute and a french fry boy the next. The spectrum is amazing. Have a lot of respect for ppl that make the food service industry work. Cheers to you all! And Blue i saw you pumping that gas girl...
