Well, to be fair, Bostonians (most of the north east actually) shows love by “busting each other chops” or ⚾️⚾️s which I believe translates to “taking the piss”. I always say if I didn’t like you, I wouldn’t even bother.

I moved from the midwest usa to ireland and I would never change how I interact with people. and the amount of people who light up when I give a compliment is amazing. or when I'm "overly" nice...I think people at first just take it as odd or that i'm fake...but then they get to know that's just me.

You’re so right. My ex and I lived in LA and I was an actor and making music but because I’m a Kiwi I’m very humble and a little bit shy and was bought up with the tall poppy syndrome. Then when I first got up LA the amount of encouragement I got for my art, even though I wasn’t single at first, the rizz the men have to just come up and nicely say Hi and when I’d say I wasn’t single they’d say “oh no problem, thought I’d ask, have a good day beautiful”, and at the gym I’d make legit friends with girls, like having good old proper chats and it was so eye opening to how much more confident I could be in myself and put myself out there

I would never make it in England! I do all those things and talk to everyone. I even tell strangers, “I love you” just to see if I get an “I love you”back and 98 % of the time, I do! No, Im not weird, I’m just from the south.

I’m a Bostonian in Hertford rn and yes all of this. I as an American feel like the warmth is lacking and I didn’t realize how much I need “no reason” hugs and miss exchanging smiles and hellos with strangers on the street. It would be hard to stay here.

Americans are very expressive about our feelings. I’ve also learned, I think bc my parents died when I was young, that I share my joys, tell people I love them, relish each moment!
