@garbanzh0e: Avoid ALL major US airports. They were in civilian clothing and followed him from his gate where he deplaned all the way outside. He was flagged in their system from the flight manifesto before he even left. They were waiting and looking for him. Do not travel if you can help it. It’s been 3 days and there’s still no update on his hearing. If you have any advice for me or others in similar situations please leave a comment.

My best friend came to the U.S. legally and applied for asylum. She received a work permit and SSN, worked, paid taxes and built her life here for 8 years. She had a boyfriend, friends, a job, a whole life. Then ICE detained her right at her asylum interview. She had no criminal record at all. The only issue was that she had overstayed her visa while waiting for the government to schedule her asylum interview which took 8 years. She spent two months in horrible conditions in a detention center in Louisiana. She has a chronic autoimmune condition and even after providing medical records from her doctor, she barely received any medical care. Eventually, she was basically told: choose deportation or stay detained for another year or two. She chose to leave and is already in another country now. But the whole experience was incredibly traumatic, not only for her but for everyone close to her.

I’m so sorry this is happening unfortunately two of my family members are also detained I was Abel to get my dad out in bond we worked with Rosa’s Law Firm they are in Louisiana but they work with people here in Florida i highly recommend them see if you are able to get him out on bond before they try to move him out of Florida. Ask for his A number and you’ll be able to track where ever they take him with this website Locator.ice.gov you can also access his court dates on eoir.justice.gov I hope this helps once again so sorry this is going on 🤍

This is not your fault. ICE doesn’t even understand itself. This is not your fault. Mad respect to you for sharing your experience with humility and honesty,

Sounds like he overstayed his visa and then applied for asylum that’s pending. I hope he has the chance to be free here with you.

Girl I’m so sorry 😭 I really recommend getting a lawyer ASAP. I’ve heard transfers to bigger detention centers aren’t usually a good sign, and hearings can take forever. A friend of mine has been waiting 6 months with no update. A lawyer may be able to help with a bond hearing and move things faster. I have a good lawyer I can recommend if you need one
