growing up in the sixties and seventies I was told Russian women were very big and strong workers. now I realize a lot of Russian women are very beautiful and feminine and still capable of being strong workers.

Growing up in the 1980’s the images of Russia showed mostly poor areas. But you have some very beautiful buildings.

Growing up here in America Russia is portrade as a poor Country with lines you have to wait in to get basic groceries and things and I found out that Russia is like America

I was thought Russia was just like North Korea and people had no freedom there because my parents told me🤷♀️. But I was happy to find out Russia is a cool fun place 👍

That indigenous groups in Yakutia are Russians. We have never been considered "Russian" by the CCCP or Russian government. Were just "native visitors".

I thought Russian people hated Americans. I’ve never met a Russian, but I want to believe your regular Russian does not hate your regular American and vice versa. I’d be ecstatic to meet one lol

I believed Russian subway structure to be crumbling, but many of the most beautiful stations are well maintained even though they still look very old. Even though I have said this, I find the above ground metro cars to be a veritable miracle for still running, because they are also ancient and running on very old power lines.

While reading for myself. The U.S. and Russia are not much different. Women there at more traditional in Russia than here, it’s colder there. We are all just people.

In the West there is only a negative perception of Soviet city planning, but after staying in a typical microraion in Moscow for a few weeks, I came to really see a lot of beauty and virtue in the design philosophy. If you are in one that is nicely maintained with good buildings, It’s a much nicer urban environment than most Americans can choose to live in. Our urban environments are usually unpleasant so we move to suburbs.

I was raised to believe Russia was a bad place bad and so I did my own research. I found out how much Russia sacrifice in World War II The world has been unfair to Russia ever since. Russian people are very intelligent and independent and unbreakable

Was always told that Russia was a starving country. A lot of people living on streets, no food, it was always so cold. Russians hated Americans and would kill us on the spot. Later found out not true at all after becoming friends with my boss Valentina who is from Russia. She was born and raised there. She moved here when she was only 16 years old. She changed the way I looked at Russia. I would love to visit there one day when the war is over.
