@elorganizingco: When boxes and cabinets sit untouched for years, they stop being memories and start becoming decisions someone else will have to make someday. I’ve heard countless stories of how difficult it is to sort through mountains of junk while grieving. Decluttering doesn’t mean getting rid of everything - it’s making space so the things left behind are what’s truly important. Decluttering is one of the kindest things you can do for your loved ones and yourself. When you’ve surrounded yourself only with the things that bring joy and removed the extra noise, you can live a much calmer, joy-filled life and share the important things with those that matter most. 💚 If you need help getting started, I’m here. #organization #declutter #homeorganizing

Sometimes it’s nice to go through their things. It sparks memories that you haven’t thought about for years, sometimes decade, and it puts it right back in your memory for future thoughts of it. Two different parents, back to back, within a year, two different homes.

Why the f would I care for that now? I don’t care if someone is inconvenienced by someone’s passing. What a weird way to put more pressure on living healthy individuals

It’s so depressing and overwhelming. Most of it is their personal junk they found important. I will be a minimalist so everything is of purpose and quality to sell if it’s not something to keep. Making memories and vacations are worth more than possessions .

these people don’t realize some of our grandparents have kept every bad light bulb they’ve ever had. Some of our grandparents literally have flour from 92’.

I kind of learned after my parents passed away, but when my husband unfortunately passed away after going through his belongings I promised myself I will not leave a bunch of useless stuff behind when it’s my time. I’ve been getting rid of things and it feels actually really good. My treasures are not treasures to everyone else. 🫶

I actually felt blessed going through my grandmas things. She had so much but I kept a bin filled of random things to always remember her. I actually felt so bad getting rid of her things. Then realized what we have isn’t anything. You die and your items will get thrown out or donated.

It took me 18 months to clear my grandma's hoarded up house and that was just 2 floors. It was another year til I got through the attic and cellar 😭
