He is not even a certified teacher. He’s not experienced enough to be able to teach students at a high school where they need that level of support. If he’s a first year uncertified teacher has more to do with him.

Of course not. The parents don’t make them read, the school district doesn’t make them read, society doesn’t reinforce being able to read, so why would they pick up a book?

And the superintendent went on the news and goes “is that really news? They’re getting better. There’s only 42% of students who can’t read or do math at their grade level. That’s better than it was is…” Absolutely ridiculous! Only 42%…. That’s still almost half of students who aren’t meeting the mark.

My daughter went to our local, rural, 3A high school system. San Antonio’ish area. Her grad class had 120 kids. She graduated top 10%, just graduated from A&M Mays business school. Entered A&M with 33 AP & dual credit hours. At least held her class went to college or military. It’s cultural.
