This is probably the biggest difference I’ve noticed about being a mom vs a nanny. When I nannied I spent so much time sitting on the floor engaging with them. Playing outside without distractions, mostly because their house/life wasn’t my responsibility. My job was to care for only the kids in the way that their parents asked me to. I wish it was that simple now with my own 3 kids

I think that’s on purpose so we can let go as they grow up. In the end, I hope I’ll always be a mother who can live long enough to see their children become her best friend too.
