I don’t think “home” meant his tree home- home meant back with Eywa. Maybe that’s why he dies right after saying it, he accepted that’s where he was headed.

I don’t know how to explain it but I feel like Net being buried in the reef is so important, almost poetic. In my mind them burying him there is almost like them giving a part of themselves to the reef to be able to build a life there.
