it is a traditional german dress tho the style of the dress was chose intentionally to show her social status. she wears the bodice because she cannot wear a corset as she does not have servants during a time they were normalized. when she "regains" her princess privilege she changes into a corset where it shows her higher social status.

Front lace bodice is what commoners wore. She was a commoner. At the end you see her in a normal corset after becoming the princess again. It was a sign of her class not her ability

its a bodice not a corset. Corsets were never worn as outer clothing until they were just fashion, so about the 1980s-9os. It would be like wearing a bra over your shirt.
