Thorfinn grew up in a world and culture that praised fighting above all else. His father disagreed, but kids tend to butt heads with their parents when they stop them from doing “cool” things. Thorfinn was then 6 YEARS OLD when his dad died in front of him. That mentally changes a person. He then spends 12 years (and notably, his pubescent, hormonal years) depressed and angry. I won’t say killing people is right, but there were actual reasons for it, and things that somewhat excuse his behaviour. He never takes those reasons and still does everything he can to repent even so. Not the case for rudeus, as being a pdf never has any excuse.

And the major thing is thorfinn WAS BORN AND GREW UP KNOWING THIS STUFF AS NORMAL, rudeus still has the mind of a 30 year old man as a child, we LITERALLY see him envision himself as a fat middle age man in his mind still.
