I will never be able to thank the people who moved into my childhood home enough, who opened the door to me when I knocked 15 years later, and let me in to see that it was now a house soaked in happiness and childhood joy. it helped to heal the little version of me that spent so many nights hiding in a blanket fort, pressing her hands over her brother's ears so he didn't have to listen to the arguments our parents were sure we couldn't hear. they even kept the swing my granddad built for me, and it was so soothing to hear laughter not shouting.
