Something that always shocks me: there are many well off Filipinos (mostly in Manila) who were born and raised in the Philippines who cannot speak Tagalog. Their families do this on purpose because… well idk why tbh. For prestige? To brag that their children only speak English? The self hatred runs deep

It’s not just because of the media too but also because the state of our government that we have such self hatred towards ourselves. We perceive local as if not a good quality but foreign, a good quality. Tbh I used to think like this but I learn to unlearn this mindset. It’s sad that most of Filipinos still have this colonial mindset

I went to the Philippines and I saw what statues of a white Jesus and pictures of a white Jesus would make Filipinos think subconsciously that white peoples are closer to god since the son of god looks white .

I’ve noticed this in Thai dramas too. They always cast half white people it’s so weird. Even the girl from nowhere they replaced the main Thai girl nanno with a half white girl who doesn’t look Thai at all.
