In the Qur’an this story is much deeper than simply a story about idol worship. It is a story about what happens when people lose their connection to God even after witnessing powerful signs. How easily people can replace God with something tangible. The calf represented something they could see, touch, and physically gather around. They had already experienced God’s signs through Moses, yet they wanted something visible. The lesson is that human beings can sometimes abandon deeper truth for something that gives them an immediate feeling. And yes you are right sister in the Qur’an: 2:93, after the episode of the calf, Allah says: “And the calf was made to permeate their hearts because of their disbelief…” the calf was what they could see on the outside but the “attachment” to that idol is what entered their hearts. The striking point is the heart. The problem wasn’t simply that they possessed something material. Their relationship with it had become so powerful that it affected their judgment.

Its exactly as you said, people say they believe yet put power money fun nakedness upon what god asked us to do… yet still say i believe in god… a pure belief makes a person not care about anything in life beside pleasing god and gaining his mercy and forgiveness… thats what really belief means… so once they believed in the gold calf they lost the connection with god. The moment you believe in something else than god you get disconnected, of course reconnecting is possible but really hard. Thats why god is always opened to forgive but it all depends on you. Soak your heart and soul with faith and blind belief in Allah, thats when the connection is strong, and prayer always makes things easier, doing good, smiling, seeking truth and sharing it… all of these and much more strengthen your connection with god. Which means what you are doing all here… thats why you are getting truth as God communicates with you through the Quran… a verse could blow your mind with a knowledge or belief, yet others may not get it or feel it like you did… thats because Allah mentioned this to you… and only you at this moment get this knowledge, others are not yet ready to get it… so believe it or not, god chose you to read the Quran and make you find truth and while you are spreading it many people may get influenced by you, and this gets you a great reward after the judgement day! So dont stop and keep it up! Lots of Love

we believe the heart isn't just a pump that pushes blood in our veins. hearts are actually acting like a second brain in our bodies (according to a study done in 1991 called little brain in the heart. hearts do have cells that's just so strikingly similar to what we got in our brains) anyhow. so many verses in the Quran Allah asks among the lines of (don't you have hearts to reason with?!) and prophet Mohammed did say in an authentic hadeeth (With every sin, a black spot is imprinted on the heart, and with every rejection of sin or good deed, a white spot is marked, until the heart is either completely purified or entirely covered in darkness) + we do believe it's not just us humans that hear and disobey .. satan did that while being at the presence of Allah almighty himself. that's why in Islam our greatest enemy isn't satan himself. it's (نفس = nafs = Ego/lower self) that tends to follow what it desire whether it's pride/money/fame/lust etc. and that's what so many of the Children of isreal did.
