the very first April was black. she was based off the writers girlfriend. I love that theyre bringing her back with the original designed race since the entirety of tmnt is an allegory for being seen as a "monster" or "freak" and not fitting in because of something they were born with and cant change.

I heard this great thing that if the characters race has no point to the plot then who cares what their race is; like example Tiana's race is important to the plot because she's trying to make living in her town, but characters like rapunzel, aerial, seri hanata or pinky pie then why does it matter
