What is “objective morality”? And why do these kind of people conflate morality with religion?

I truly appreciate your saying this. My family is Catholic, and they do not understand my atheism. I do not condone their religion but sometimes they take digs at me. Namely, my children having the ability to be moral without going to Catholic school or church. I know I have taught them morals and as mentioned, it has nothing to do with religion. It's just knowing that I don't want to hurt anyone. That's it, don't hurt people. My children who are now adults, know this and have always known this. Don't hurt people, or animals, don't hurt the planet. I just mean, we should respect each other and not have animals suffer. And, take care of the place we live. Again, as long as anyone's religion doesn't aim to hurt people, you do you. I get wanting the community of it, or the need to believe in something more than yourself. I can't, but I don't want to deny people of this, as long as they don't hurt people in the process.
