hi! I wonder if you've done Harm OCD, the constant state where you feel like harming someone or something, on vivid and grotesque ways, which can make you scared that you'd harm others thanks!

I got autism, basically any character I write will be autistic whether it is my intention or not because I cannot imagine a world living without at least several traits or what ‘Neurotypical’ dialogue would be. If anything, tell me how to write people who aren’t the littlest bit Neurodivergent while still having them be relatable

as someone with cptsd, if you’re doing cptsd and not ptsd, remember that cptsd has two extra symptoms! Difficulty regulating emotions and feelings of guilt or shame. Also, nightmares don’t have to be about their trauma. Mine are mainly about d3ath and I have no idea where they come from. And pls, don’t make them super hyper empathetic, that’s lowkey a stereotype because we can also lack empathy or have it impaired during an episode.

Do ADHD!! I’m so so tired of reading my disorder in a book and it’s all “SQUIRL!!” “Omg I’m so silly I forgot my purse!” And they’re ALWAYS written as the most ANNOYING character. Kills my self esteem. I dnf any book that does ANY of these.

Two other incredibly common traits of autism include circular pacing to self sooth and cricketing. I have level two autism and I pace 2-4 hours a day (I prefer walking to sitting down) and I will cricket 24/7, even when standing still. If my feet aren’t actively carrying me somewhere, I’m cricketing. Also- most autistic people have to be very careful about their safe foods. Something as simple as a food that’s normally hot cooking down can cause an adverse reaction.

For cerebral palsy (my condition :3); REMINDER!! Not all of us are in wheelchairs unable to walk or talk! Many of us have mild cases that can still interfere with our daily life. Including: tight muscles (in the legs, but also in mobility and coordination), limping, struggling with running and or walking slightly off at times. Other than physical factors, an individual with the condition may also have academic difficulties as opposed to their peers due to possible learning difficulties (not always extreme, it could be something like not understanding math or reading. PLEASE for the love of god do NOT write us as inspirations for our ablebodied counterparts 😭🙏 we are also human, and deserve to be treated as such! Write anger, sadness and happiness just as you would for any other character!! It sucks to see us always being either mocked extensively, treated as children or seen as admirable for the mere act of breathing. (Grinds my gears, anyway). One last thing to mention is that those with cerebral palsy can also experience seizures and epilepsy!! Not everyone ofc, but just a heads up. This is all I can think of for now 🫶🏼🫶🏼🫶🏼

for autism, a need for routine doesnt have to mean you follow the same schedule everyday. for example, i like to wear the same things everyday and i feel kind of stressed / "stripped of my identity" when i have to wear other stuff. if it's hot and i cant wear my jacket or my jeans, i feel uncomfortable. if i cant bring my headphones, i feel even more nervous. also, not every autistic person has visible meltdowns. esp if your character is late diagnosed or afab, they might have much more quiet, internal ones. at least while in public spaces

Can you do ocd? I have it severely and I’d like people to write it more correctly to spread awareness! Nobody talks about how different it can be for everyone

Perhaps I should ask my therapist if I have autism, as much as I would prefer not to (because one of my exs has autism) that may be the case. But I do not toe walk, nor do I have any specific sensitivity to certain clothes. Besides outfits that are still in the works, they make me quite itchy.

Internal panic attacks are actually just anxiety attacks! That’s the only difference between the two! From someone who experiences both an anxiety attack is an internal processes and a panic attack is having any physical reaction to it (I.e. hyperventilating, rocking, increased stimming)
