There are articles from 2001 AND 2016 talking about smoking dead scorpions as some “craaazy new drug” as well. In reality, people have been doing this since the 1960s. I dislike these type of articles that are made to make people in the west think that everyone else in the world is backwards/ primitive or that they do stuff that’s just so craaaazyy Americans would never do it. America has its own drug problems, right now as I’m typing this there’s probably someone cooking crack in the same pan they make eggs in. It’s just engagement bait that relies on people’s already held prejudices. Smoking scorpions became a thing, largely, as a way to supplement heroin use. And, the reason why heroin became such a big problem in Pakistan in the first place is mostly due to the Soviet occupation of Afghanistan. If you want more information you can look into how poppies became a cash crop in Afghanistan and how these crops spread to Pakistan. When you come across stuff like this on the internet stop for a second and think about the history that leads to these kinds of things. It’s incredibly irritating to me that a lot of people’s response is “blah blah blah butcha won’t eat pork”, some of you are such losers.
