@mraisinggirls: An expectant mum reached out to me after finding out her baby has achondroplasia, the same genetic condition as Billie. Achondroplasia is the most common form of dwarfism, a 1 in 30,000 chance. She’d been given a fetal medicine appointment and a printout of ‘Welcome to Holland’. A poem I know well and one I still get sent, always with the best intentions. But one I really struggled with after billie’s diagnosis because it skips the part where your world has just been turned upside down and you’re not ready to see the beauty yet.
