Now in its 17th edition, Dithubaruba remains one of Botswana’s most distinctive cultural showcases, honouring Bakwena identity while fostering intergenerational dialogue, cultural pride, and unity. At its core, the festival aims to revive, preserve, and share Setswana traditions, from song, dance, poetry, and storytelling, to symposiums and the Heritage Walk. Officiating the event, the Minister of Environment and Tourism, Hon. Wynter Mmolotsi, emphasised culture as a living force that fuels national identity and socio-economic development. He highlighted that the Ministry of Environment & Tourism, in collaboration with the Kgosi Sechele I Museum invested P60 million in the transformation of Ntsweng Heritage site into a permanent cultural precinct anchored by the forthcoming Kgosi Sechele I Museum, a hub expected to empower communities, stimulate tourism, and position Kweneng as a cultural destination of choice. Hon. Mmolotsi commended the Kgosi Sechele I Museum Trust, the Dithubaruba Organising Committee, and partners for turning culture into a catalyst for economic transformation. He further challenged Batswana across the country to innovate, benchmark, and elevate local cultural events into internationally recognized festivals that projects Botswana’s story to the world. Beyond the formalities, Dithubaruba came alive through spirited performances, cultural exhibitions, and community-driven initiatives that underscored its enduring role in celebrating Bakwena culture while uniting people from all walks of life. #DithubarubaCulturalFestival #iloveBotswana #CultureMeetsHeritage #iloveBotswana #BotswanaTourism
