As an Amex Employee…. There is no such thing as unlimited Amex cards unless you have the black card!!!! You all have limits based on your spending patterns, this is just one way to be honest that there has ALWAYS been an unknown spending limit.

The Amex cards that everyone knows (gold, platinum, black) aren’t credit cards, they’re charge cards, meaning they don’t have a spending limit and must be paid every month, in comparison to a credit card which can carry a balance.

Its not a recession indicator, its called share holders lol. Credit cards cancel or lower limits when people don’t carry a balance. They dont want to loan people and give points when they make $700 a year fee only.

Yep same happened to me. I pay off my card every month too. They sent me an email saying to make a payment before my due date or they may decline my next purchase. Last time i seen an email like this was around 2008. I use their plum card btw
